We know that the work of reintroducing rites of passage in nature speaks to people on an international, pan-cultural basis. We have always guided people of diverse ethnic, social and religious backgrounds, and in the past few years, we've worked with people from many countries, including Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Japan, England, Argentina and Australia. Lately, we've been offered the opportunity to present our programs in other lands, which has confirmed the universal basis of the work we do.
For 2008, we're planning to present our programs in two new countries, Australia and the Czech Republic.
In February, we plan to visit Australia at the invitation of Lynn Jones, who participated in our November 2007 Vision Quest in Death Valley. Lynn is a guide with Straddie Guides on North Stradbroke Island. We'll offer three related programs during our visit:
Medicine Wheel / Four Shields Workshop, February 14-17
Training Group for Vision Quest Guides, February 19-21
Vision Quest, February 23-March 2

In June, we'll be traveling to the Czech Republic to present an open Vision Quest in English and Czech. We're presenting this in partnership with Zdenek Weber.
Czech Republic Vision Quest, June 3-11, 2008
You can look at Zdenek's web pages for more information (it's only available in Czech at this time, but he plans to translate into English soon). This program emerged from a Men's Vision Quest we presented in Sweden in June, 2007 which Zdenek attended. That's him in the photo on the right.
In September 2007, we traveled for two weeks to present a Vision Quest and training to a group of staff members of Soop Chae Won, a South Korean forest retreat center serving youth and adults, and of the Korea Forest Foundation. The result was a rich cross-cultural learning for both the Rites of Passage staff and for the South Koreans. We're delighted and honored to have been a part of the inauguration of the new forest center, and we hope for continued collaboration in the future. You can read more about our journey here.
